that TweakUi setting is here;
TweakUi installed on your drive could be left to see all drives and TweakUi installed on the other drive set to only show that drive. So... total control.

If you do decide to do something like this, take a look at the total size of your mp3 partition along with your stuff vrs Garys stuff and before you do it contemplate the size that you want these drives to be (for instance the C:\ drive can be left very small as there are only a few files placed there.)

Not that I'm really a stickler about these things, but I don't think I'm legally allowed to have a single copy of Windows installed more than once, even on a single computer - am I? I doubt M$ would come after me for it, but I'm not sure how it would work when it came time for updates/security patches, etc.
The real drawback of having Gary and me on entirely separate HDs, as I see it, is that then I wouldn't have a separate HD for my backups - which is the reason I installed the additional HD in the first place.
While you're absolutely right about my current setup being so new that it may not have had time to reveal all sorts of additional inherent problems (gulp!), I did have both Gary's and my "My Document" folders on the D: partition for the last two years (with the OS always on C: ), and I never ran into any problems with that. I would sooner revert to that arrangement, if that might permit me to use run Explorer sandboxed, than lose my backup HD. As long as Gary is running Firefox sandboxed, I won't have to worry about him putting the computer at risk, so I'd be fine with him being back on the same partition as I. Then again, since I'm the only one who would ever want to run Explorer sandboxed (i.e., it wouldn't have to work for my current E: partition), maybe it wouldn't matter if I left his stuff on E: ?
In any case, I don't expect Tzuk to modify anything on my account - I just wanted to know if anyone might be able to tell me how to change my settings so that I could sandbox Explorer. I figured the issue might have come up before, and maybe there was a documented solution somewhere.
You've been incredibly helpful and patient with me, and I really appreciate it. Sometimes life just ain't perfect - I can live with "just" sandboxing Firefox and Thunderbird. I figure I'm a whole lot better off now than I was running the two programs un-sandboxed before installing Sandboxie a few days ago!
Thanks again for all your work on this. I'll keep putzing around when I have time, and see if any miracles should take place - in which case you can be sure I will post back! Smile

good idea, maybe just by going back to that earlier setup, you might just be fine. bottom line is that something pushed your WE 'over the edge', was it the E: drive, was is Sandboxie.? We'll never know. I dont know about that legal issue ......but a moot point here. when you are ready for ini help - this is your place.

ps - we are totally past the decision and I'm not trying to talk you into anything, but I meant everything on the one disk.

Sorry, Mitch, I misunderstood. I was thinking you meant assign one HD to each of us.
Over the weekend, I might try going back to both Gary and me on partition D: and see if I have any luck with that. In the meantime, I'd really like to fix my .ini file up - is it okay to do here, or should I start a new thread?

Maybe use the "Ini help" thread?

I agree - and I might add that we are lucky to have the mysterious SND here to help out. (FF is my weakness - lol but then again I never give up)

I don't think this problem has anything to do with the location of folders. I still think it's more likely this has to do with Explorer configuration, shell extensions, stuff like that.

Your idea sounded good to me, Dan, but now I can't run Explorer sandboxed under either account. Same thing happens as in my first post in this thread

This could imply that it's actually the integration of Sandboxie into the installing user's account that is causing problems. Try removing this registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\sandbox

Note that you will lose the right-click action "Run Sandboxed".

Tzuk,
I deleted it (and have confirmed that it truly was deleted), but I haven't lost my right-click action to 'Run Sandboxed'.
As for trying to right click - run sandboxed - Windows Explorer, nothing has changed from before.

Mitch - thanks for the heads up on the location of the ini help thread!

Does the Run Sandboxed action disappear if you logoff and logon again? Unless it disappears, we can't be sure that it was really deleted.

Tzuk, I actually rebooted the computer. The registry key is, indeed, gone, but I still haven't lost the right click action to 'Run Sandboxed'.

To clarify/confirm.
I clicked on Run, typed in regedit.exe, found the registry key you'd indicated, right clicked on it and selected delete. Correct?
