Hi,

after install new version 3.32 and IE7 runs in the sandbox I became error message:
SBIE 2327 Error in Com server [35/258]
SBIE 2327 Error in Com server [30/258]

I must close IE and Sandboxie with the taskmanager. (the deleeting freezes)
After a reeboot it works at the moment.

What does it mean?

Thanks

Hi,

did you get the messages in previous 3.31 beta versions too?

Did it happen again since that first time?

I have the same problem as Penny Lane: Error in COM server [35/258] and Error in COM server [30/0], when starting Internet Explorer Sandboxed.

This didn’t occur before updating to version 3.32, perhaps a conflict with “Comodo Defence+”?

Restarting my computer and disabling all security software doesn’t help.

Is there any security issue in return to version 3.30?

No major security differences between 3.30 and 3.32. Changes are mostly for better usability and making sandboxed programs work smoother. Obviously in your case there is a problem which makes 3.32 worse, so until that is resolved, you can safely go back to 3.30.

This same problem has been happening since I upgraded to version 3.32. I use Firefox and it displays this message when trying to bring Firefox up. I have to use task manager and end-process all the sandbox executables before I can gain control. Have tried doing a fresh install of 3.32 but the problem exists.

Have uninstalled and gone back to version 3.30 until it is fixed. I have been using sandboxie for about 8 months and this is my first problem.

Can you help me find how to reproduce the problem? I'd like to know which version of Windows you're using and which other security programs you use.

Hi Tzuk,

This could be posted elsewhere, so hopefully this topic is close enough.

I'm running 3.32.0.0 and received SBIE2327 Error in COM server: [35 / 258] and [35 / 0] (in the same Error Msg) this morning after opening IE sandboxed and then clicking on a link in Thunderbird. This was the first start of IE (sandboxed or not) of the day. Sandboxie crashed my IE (and Firefox would not start afterwards, either) and I had to reboot, even though I tried restarting Sandboxie Control and Sandboxie Start Menu and the like after killing it with Process Explorer (Sandboxie was dead).

I had the following programs running at that time:
Outlook 2007
Thunderbird 2.0.0.18
Explorer (two windows)

[I'm running XP Pro SP3.]

Also, since you were asking about clicking links in Word, I opened Word 2007 and clicked on a link while IE was open sandboxed (I got the Unexpected Error as well). Just for the heck of it, I saved the same link as a docx and as a doc, both with the same results.

Since you asked about security software, I'm using ZoneAlarm Pro 5.5.094 and, I had to allow Word access to the Internet, so I re-ran the same Word link-click test with Word already having Internet access rights (no change - still got the Unexpected Error).

I also run Windows Defender and Spybot, but doubt either play a role in the issue(s).

In addition, maybe it's me, but it appears that often while running sandboxed, IE will lose its scrollability after switching screens (such as me using Preview, just now - I had to use my cursor and slide instead of being able to use my arrow keys).

If you have any questions or want me to try something, I'm available.

This error mentioned in this post has gone away since reverting back to version 3.30.

I was getting the error when using Firefox 3.04. My Firefox uses extensions like No-Script, WOT, SiteAdvisor, AdBlock Plus. I did noticed that version 3.32 did make siteadvisor work again.

I am running Windows XP SP3, fully patched. Security software is the McAfee Retail Security Center version 12.0. Other security software that I use are Spybot 1.60, Adware 2007.

When the error occurs it makes the sandbox windows become non-responsive. I have to use task manager and end each of the sandbox processes that are listed.

After posting above, I reverted back to 3.30.0.0 and tried it all over:

a) Did not get the COM Error(s)
b) Link in Thunderbird worked without any problem
c) Link in Word 2007 docx and doc still caused the Unexpected Error, whether permission granted beforehand in ZoneAlarm or not

OK, I found this interesting:

While testing the last test above (3.30.0.0), IE sandboxed was installing a McAfee SiteAdvisor update and whether I'd accept or decline the EULA, it would open a new sandboxed IE and repeat the same thing; it wanted me to accept the EULA. When I opened IE UNsandboxed, SiteAdvisor was green and ready to go. While typing this, in unsandboxed IE, I opened IE Sandboxed, and the SiteAdvisor update was taking place again.

FYI, I tried starting Firefox (3.04) sandboxed (3.30.0.0) and it did the same thing; it took me to the Firefox home page and told me I'd (just) upgraded (to 3.04) and the SiteAdvisor told me I'd just updated it and the EULA accept/decline started again as well.

Perhaps deleting the contents of your sandbox would bring things up to date.

Cheers,

I have checked my XP Event Viewer for error messages when the Com error message occur with version 3.32. Below are the error messages:

Event ID 1002:

Hanging application firefox.exe, version 1.9.0.3224, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000.

Event ID 7034

The Sandboxie Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

It is clearly showing that Firefox 3.04 is hanging when using Sandboxie version 3.32. It has not done this since going back to version 3.32.

Hopefully, this gives you some more information to help in fixing this issue with 3.32.
