Version 3.35.15 includes a new feature for managing and applying "application configurations".

An application configuration is a group of settings which is collectively given a name, and can then be enabled or disabled for a particular sandbox. An application configuration may include a template variable, which has a default value, but can also be overridden on a per-user basis.

Official application configurations appear in C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\Templates.ini, which also contains a description of the new application configuration (or templating) feature.

It is also possible to add local application configurations in Sandboxie.ini, and in fact Sandboxie Control facilitates the addition of new application configurations through a "Create New" button. The intention is for forum members to be able to share "unofficial" application configurations.

Finally, the Sandbox Settings > Applications > Web Browser and > Email Reader sections have been revised to work with application configurations rather than the limited selection of configurations which was previously offered.

Please, experiment and comment.

I created a template for AutoSizer (invented by Dlguild);

[Template_Local_AutoSizer]
Tmpl.Name=AutoSizer
Tmpl.Class=Local
OpenIpcPath=\BaseNamedObjects\AutoSizer123
OpenWinClass=SysListView32

It shows in the sandboxie.ini under [TemplateSettings] but is not listed under the pertinent sandbox settings. Do you first create a template and then apply the template to a sandbox?

How did you create the template? Did you manually enter it into Sandboxie.ini? If so did you also reload the configuration? And finally, did you look for the template in Sandbox Settings > Applications > Local ?

By the way, I see I made a mistake in the comments in Templates.ini, Tmpl.Name should actually be Tmpl.Title .

So we can just correct that by hand for now, right?

Yes, but I am going to advise against making a habit of modifying Templates.ini because it is going to be overwritten during installation without any questions.

So I set under Local/Create New

[Template_Local_AutoSizer]
Tmpl.Title=AutoSizer
Tmpl.Class=Local
OpenIpcPath=\BaseNamedObjects\AutoSizer123
OpenWinClass=SysListView32

And it creates in the proper sandbox;

Template=Local_AutoSizer

So it is all good. Very Happy

I'm getting multiple errors messages (Vista SP1):

1. When SbieCtrl launches for the first time after upgrading from 3.35.14 to 3.35.15, I got a "Failed to record configuration setting Tmpl.Roboform in section TemplateSettings: C0000001" followed by "Failed to record configuration setting Tmpl.Firefox in section TemplateSettings: C0000001".

2. When I launch SbieCtrl manually, I get:

"SBIE1406 Missing or invalid expansion of Tmpl.Roboform: [C0000034]" and "SBIE1203 Cannot build path list (error in OpenFilePath)"

3. When I launch Opera (as a forced program), I get the following simultaneous errors:

a. "SBIE1406 Missing or invalid expansion of Tmpl.Roboform: [C0000034]" and "SBIE1203 Cannot build path list (error in OpenFilePath)

b. Opera application error: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000010a). Click OK to terminate the application".

If SbieCtrl is not running I only get the Opera application error.

Given my addiction for Sandboxie.ini editing, I am the first editor of the new Templates.ini Shocked (Tmpl.Name to Tmpl.Title)

Really a neat new feature! I might suggest changing the button texts to Enable / Disable instead of Add / Remove. Just seems to make more sense to me.

Found a bug for the Firefox phishing data template. In Vista SP1 32-bit, Firefox's urlclassifier3.sqlite is located in a different place -

%Local AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\*\urlclassifier*.sqlite*

The other firefox templates for Vista seem to be ok.
