Hi Tzuk

I said several posts ago that I am not technical. So you should not be surprised if I do not understand the following comment:

"If you recover those particular files manually using Quick Recovery, are they recovered as empty files with a zero length?"

If you mean that when I download a file and immediate recovery does not work yet when I recover via Quick Recovery, is the recovered file viable ie does it work? The answer is an emphatic YES!!

I can install from Sandboxie 35-26.exe downloaded but recovered via Quick Recovery because Immediate Recovery does not work.

Hope this is clear

That's exactly what I meant. Then perhaps the problem is not related to the immediate recovery changes at all. There was some other change in version 3.35.21, which I have now disabled in bersion 3.35.27. Please try it and let me know if this makes a difference:

Hi Tzuk

I can confirm that Immediate Recovery now works with Opera 10 using SBoxie 35-27.

Having just seen Huukillers reply concerning Quick Recovery I need to go back & check it to make sure its OK on mine.

Something I forgot to report yesterday is that when I opened IE7 in versions 35-26 and today in version 35-27 IE7 throws up an error message iedw.exe "failed to initialise and needs to close"

1) This does NOT occur using these versions (26 & 27) unsandboxed

2) This does NOT occur using version 35-20 EITHER sandboxed or unsandboxed

3) Firefox appears to be unaffected

I will report back on the Quick recovery point later today

Thanks

Terry

Hi Tzuk

I can now confirm that both Immediate Recovery and Quick Recovery work OK. Both have valid installable files after recovery.

So the only issue now is the one I reported in my previous post:-

"Something I forgot to report yesterday is that when I opened IE7 in versions 35-26 and today in version 35-27 IE7 throws up an error message iedw.exe "failed to initialise and needs to close""

I understand that iedw.exe is something to do with IE7 error reporting. Somewhere in your posts I think I read that you had introduced into sandboxie some error reporting facility?. Could this be the reason why I am getting this message in IE7?

In any event how do I get rid of it> It certainly is not present in 35-20

Hope this is helpful

huukiller, TerryWood, let's see if version 3.35.28 still works with Immediate Recovery, and hopefully fixes some other problems as well.

Hi Tzuk

For me v35-28 is unchanged from v35-27

ie Both Immediate Recovery & Quick Recovery function correctly.

The only problem now is when I open IE7 I get iedw.exe Application Error "The application has failed to initialise" (as reported in previous posts)

This did not occur in v 35-20

Regards

I"m new to Sandboxie but it appears that Immediate Recovery does not work in Windows 7. I installed the Windows 7 version of Sandboxie (downloaded on 4/6/09) and have not changed any defaults. I was working through the tutorial and did the save "favicon" step Favicon is in the sandbox and is recoverable but sandboxie did not offer/ask for Immediate Recovery.

TerryWood, please try version 3.35.29 and let me know if things improve.

huukiller, I'm really puzzled at this problem. If I recall, your quick recovery was working well during versions .25 and .26 when immediate recovery was broken. Is that right?

kflorian, thanks, I'm afraid I won't be fixing any Windows 7 issues at this time, but I will keep this in mind when I take another look at Windows 7.

Hi Tzuk

BINGO!!!!

As far as I am able to tell all is resolved.

ie I mean by the above statement

a) The iedw.exe error message in IE7 is no longer causing a problem.

6) Firefox 3.08, IE7 Opera 10 Preview are all working correctly with Immediate and Quick Recovery.

Thanks a lot

I will keep watching this thread in case there is anything else you want me to try

Regards

I think huukiller means this:

Save something to a Quick Recovery folder while Immediate Recovery is enabled -> dismiss the Immediate Recovery dialog WITHOUT recovering anything -> open the Quick Recovery window to recover the files later -> Quick Recovery window is empty
