Whenever I attempt to launch a sandboxed program with the drop rights option selected, I get an error "SBIE2205 Service not implemented: SecHost" and SBIE2318 DLL initialization failed for 'sechost.dll'.

This is on Windows 7 32bit, running Sandboxie as an Administrator. I wonder if it could be made easier to install programs as a limited user in a sandbox since everything should be writable by the limited user in the sandbox folder, can 'administrator permissions' be emulated in some way so I don't have to elevate the sandboxie console?

Thanks for this interesting program.

If I can reproduce the SBIE2205 problem, I'll fix it. As for emulating admin permissions, I've thought about it, the idea has appeal to me. However it involves a considerable amount of work and will likely cause many problems until it is perfected.

For what it's worth, version 3.39 has improved support for elevation, I think you will no longer need to "prepare" for installations by elevating Sandboxie Control or using "Run as UAC Administrator" in Sandboxie. Installations should work as smooth in the sandbox as they do outside, even where UAC is in effect.

I've written a bit about this here:

And version 3.39.12 will have even more improvements in that area.

Regarding SBIE2205, I was unable to reproduce the problem with some common programs, does this happen for all programs or a specific one?

The error happened before I even launched anything, when I right click the sandbox and select run any program sandboxed, the dialog to choose an executable pops up and another box with those two errors pops up with it.

I've recently reinstalled Windows, so I'll have to reinstall Sandboxie and see if I can give some better steps to reproduce.

Ok I get the same thing with a fresh install. Here's what I've done from the installer on.

1. Launch Sandboxie installer as Limited User.
2. Elevates installer to Administrator automatically.
3. Sandboxie installs fine, no errors.
4. Start>Sandboxie Control (Right click, run as administrator).
5. Right click DefaultBox, Sandbox Settings.
6. Open restrictions menu, Under Internet Access - Block All Programs and Apply.
7. Under Drop Rights, check the box, and apply. Hit OK.
8. Right click DefaultBox, Run Sandboxed>Run Any Program.

This is where the error pops up with the run dialog box.

I still could not reproduce the problem, but I did change something and I hope this will be fixed in the next version, 3.39.13.
