On Vista Business SP 2 with disabled UAC:

Running Internet Explorer 8 unsandboxed works without problems.
Running IE 8 sandboxed shows its window for a second, then the browser will be closed without any (error-) message.

1. Deleting the sandbox contents does not help
2. There were no changes to my IE sandbox in the last days

/EDIT

Yes, this is related to UAC.

UAC is disabled...enable it, system restart: problem is gone
Disable UAC again, system restart: problem is back

I haven't looked at this but please try version 3.39.13 and if the problem persists I will check it.

Well, I looked into it, but could not reproduce, neither in version 3.39.13 nor 3.39.14. Does this still happen for you with version 3.39.14?

Yes.

Did you disable the UAC like described here (Method #4 - Using Control Panel)?

Yes, I disabled from Control Panel, then restarted Windows. IE starts fine, although .. now that I think of it ... I'm not sure it's IE 8 that I have on Windows Vista.

Now I'm sure. I've been working for a while on Windows Vista to fix that other Sandbox Settings display problem. IE 8, UAC off, still unable to reproduce this problem. Sorry.

Damn Confused

/EDIT 1
A retest with 3.39.15 on another Vista with disabled UAC and IE 8 shows the same behavior, the browser will be closed immediately.

/EDIT 2
Now I know the reason! With ENABLED Sandboxie option "Drop rights" it is like described. No problems after disabling "Drop rights".

I'm not sure if this is a related problem, but with 3.39.15 I am getting a message that the browser has closed unexpectedly when I launch a new session of IE8. This occurs after closing the program normally and then relaunching.

I am using Windows XP. I did not see this issue on previous versions of this beta.

Dave

Edit - I am not having this problem on my netbook also using 3.39.15 with WinXP Home version. I will do some further testing.

- Update to above. I went back to my desktop machine and opened and closed IE8 while the sandbox was disabled. This appears to have taken care of the problem since IE8 opens normally now while sandboxed.

Ruhe, I've been able to reproduce the problem and fix it. Thanks.

Now I received the "your last browser session closed unexpectedly" message on my netbook when I launched IE8 with version 3.39.15

More than a coincidence I would guess. Confused

Dave53, seems like your IE might have crashed at some point and then you got this message on the next invocation. Is this is a one time thing or are you still regularly having problems running IE or anything else under Sandboxie?

I first noticed the problem on my desktop machine, and I don't recall an IE8 crash. When I opened IE8 unsandboxed and closed it, the problem went away. Last night I opened IE8 sandboxed on my netbook and encountered the same issue. Until I repeated the solution that I used on my desktop machine the issue persisted.

I will monitor things closely to see if the issue comes back on either machine. I have not encountered this with any other sandboxed programs other than IE8.

Not a big problem, but I am curious about what caused it.
