Tried 3.39.22 and started syntpenh.exe and loads of start.exe kept opening up had to terminate all programmes to get it to stop.also syntphelper.exe fails to start so the touchpad dies after a few minutes and fails to work, i have to start the touchpad sandboxed so it will work in firefox, tried uninstalling synaptics but this don't seem to work on my acer laptop. i tried starting new topic but it said i had to be moderator to do so,thanks...

tinitus, regarding plenty of instances of Start.exe, see:

http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=6327

And try version 3.39.23 please.

The Synaptics issue is a known issue, and one that I'm afraid I don't have a solution for.

This is similar to what's happening to me, tried 3.39.23 and at end of install it asks if the programme installed properly i clicked yes then got syntpenh.exe to run in sandbox, (syntphelper.exe does not start like it does in 3.38 ) then i got a uac prompt to allow start.exe. i allowed it then 5 minutes later i got another uac prompt for start.exe i allowed that and then my touchpad died .gone back to 3.38 for the moment.. i'm using vista admin account..

Alright tinitus, at first I didn't realize you were talking about a problem in Synaptics, I thought you were referring to the problem with Start.exe restarting.

I don't have a Synaptics touchpad but let me try to install the drivers on Windows Vista and see if I can reproduce the problem.

I did see the problem that SynTPEnh.exe caused a UAC prompt and would not run SynTPHelper.exe. I made some changes in version 3.39.24 to take care of this. Does it behave better now for you?

Glad version 3.39.24 fixes the first problem.

As for the second problem, this time I'm afraid I did not see the problem, I installed WinAmp 5.56 into Windows Vista. When I click Run Sandboxed on the WinAmp desktop icon, it comes up with no UAC prompts. If I need to do anything different to get the UAC prompt, let me know what I should do.

i run winamp forced in the default sandbox,i removed it from forced programs and ran it the same way you did and i still get the start.exe uac prompt when winamp is opened. elevator.exe is not running in the sandbox like it does in 3.38. i am using winamp 5.56 also

And I tried normal clicking on the WinAmp icon when winamp.exe is forced and I still don't get a UAC prompt.

The name elevator.exe suggests it might be used by WinAmp to elevate to Administrator privileges. So when you OK the UAC prompt, what other process is launched by this elevator.exe ?

According to some WinAmp forum posts, the elevator.exe is used by WinAmp when it needs to make some change to the registry. Do you get a UAC prompt when you run WinAmp ouside Sandboxie?

That's it thanks tzuk, i got a normal uac prompt when opening outside of sandbox and since i'm using norton uac tool i was able to stop it asking me again for winamp.ran winamp sandboxed and now sandboxie start.exe uac prompt does not come up.although in version 3.38 winamp.exe and elevator.exe ran in the sandbox and now only winamp.exe runs in sandbox (this is probably why i never got uac prompt in version 3.38 ) .
