I'm sorry but I don't understand your problem description. Where is the relationship of WMP to your browsers? Are you trying to view a Windows Media video in the browser?

The underlying problem may be that WMP12 has problems running sandboxed. I reported here that WMP12 was completely unresponsive, although the thread went in another direction and there was no resolution on this issue. |

I think I was unable to reproduce the problem. But I don't mind trying again. Any particular web site that I should visit?

Hi tzuk,
Here are my easy steps to reproduce, using Win7 and Sandboxie 3.40. (The issue does not occur on WinXP with WMP11.) 1. Create a new sandbox, keeping default settings. 2. Copy a video into the sandbox. From a sandboxed Explorer, open the video in WMP12. Here's the issue: WMP12 opens sandboxed and is unresponsive - it just says "Opening media..." and shows a busy cursor. WMP cannot be closed except by terminating the process. I wonder if it's just my machine? Thanks for looking into this. |

I can reproduce the WMP12 hang with the above steps on Win7 Pro 32-bit with 3.41.09. I ran calc to create the sandbox, copied a WMV into the sandboxed Windows directory, and tried to launch it from a sandboxed Windows Explorer.

In the meanwhile,
I changed my -Default- Media Player from WMP12 to KMPlayer. Now everything is O.K. KMPlayer plays Media Player files Opened by a Sandboxed Browser! WMP12 couldn't do it! |

Sorry guys but I can't reproduce the problem. I copied "C:\Sample Video from \Users\Public\Videos\Sample Videos\Wildlife.wmv" into drive\c\Windows sandbox folder as you suggested. Then used a sandboxed Windows Explorer (Sandboxie version 3.41.09) to navigate to C:\Windows and clicked Wildlife.wmv. Sandboxed WMP opens and plays the video as it should. Can you try with this particular video to see if this issue has anything to do with the actual video being played back? Another question is, could it be that you have an instance of wmplayer.exe already running outside the sandbox when you click the WMV in the sandboxed Windows Explorer? |

wmplayer.exe runs sandboxed, but it still hangs. Could be a video card issue? When I get a chance I'll see if I can run it under a debugger.
