"Using Windows 7 64Bit, you need to install Windows XP Mode from Microsoft. This is simply VirtualPC and an XP SP3 image, but I found it was not secure and far to cumbersome. However, installing Sandboxie into this, allows me to run it from Windows 7 with only a few steps of logging in to the hidden virtual environment. You can then use "Run web browser" sandboxed, or just run Explorer.exe and it loads Explorer sandboxed and you have access to all your system drives. "

I have done the above as well. However, an interesting problem has shown up - one which I have not seen addressed by searching the forum. Under Virtual XP Mode, IE8 seems to run fine. However, if I run IE8 in Virtual XP *within the current version of Sandboxie" and try to switch a video to full screen, I get "Internet Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close." The problem appears to be in "flash10c.ocx" and is quite repeatable - just bring up Youtube and try it with any video.

Obviously, without using Sandboxie, no problem...

Any ideas? Suggestions?

First please upgrade to the latest beta version of Sandboxie to see if that already resolves the problem.

If not, invoke the Resource Access Monitor in Sandboxie before running IE.

I will point you to this topic for an example how the Resource Access Monitor helps to resolve problems:

I tried the 3.41.12 beta... no change. So I started the RAM and went to a YouTube video. Clicked on the full screen icon within the video. IE8 crashed as expected. RAM reports the following:

snipped. --tzuk

I don't see anything that looks out of place in the monitor log, so I guess I will have to try it myself. I will post back here when I have more information, but that will probably take me a few weeks to get to that.

This problem may be obsolete now?

Well, fix one, break another. <G>

I downloaded the 64-bit beta. It fixed (or bypassed) the "full screen" problem - Within IE8 I can now switch between full screen and small screen with no crashes of IE8. However, ... no audio.

I had the same problem before (32 bit under the Virtual XP), but fixed it with the "WinMMConsoleAudioEvent" addition. This time I have added:

OpenIpcPath=*\BaseNamedObjects*\WinMMConsoleAudioEvent
OpenIpcPath=\RPC Control\AudioSrv

I've also set the hardware restrictions to allow a sandboxed program to manage hardware (which, frankly, doesn't sound like a good thing <G>). So far, no joy. Any ideas? This would seem to be the only remaining problem.

tnx, jmk

"Try version 3.43.14."

Tried it... both as an overwrite install, and then as a complete uninstall(don't save ini)-reboot-install.

It appeared to install just fine. However, when I would launch IE8 under a sandbox, I would get a ton of "dropped rights" messages and other related "SBIE Request was issued..." errors. This would be followed by an error that "SSVAgent.exe - no such interface supported." After all that, I could bring up web pages, but could not (for example) launch a youtube video. It would complain that either java scripts were turned off (I made sure to turn them on), or that I needed a newer version of Flash Player.

Attempting to install a newer version (under sandboxed IE8) would produce an error of "This file doesn't have a program associated with it." [I also tried making sure I had a current verion of Flash on my system in general. And obviously, it all works fine with IE8 non-sandboxed.]

I did try turning off the additional "drop rights" setting under restrictions. This eliminated the several dozen error messages on IE8 launch, but otherwise made no improvement.

So... kudos for the effort, but we've taken a step backwards. Sorry...

Well, these are test versions, after all, so glitches are to be expected from time to time. If you're not having fun beta-testing, which is certainly a reasonable attitude, then I suggest you wait until I release the official version 3.44 with 64-bit support, and then try again.

"Suggest you wait for 3.44"

I understand. And I really do appreciate all the hard work. I personally know how hard it can be, attempting to support all the different flavors and configurations of OS and browsers and all else.

Although I will admit disappointment (I figured the sound issue was a simple one, since it appeared to be a setup holdover problem from older versions). But it's hardly a pressing issue. I can still bring up a virtual XP partition and run Sandboxie in that - just without full screen capability.

I look forward to the next full release, and again... thanks for the effort.

it runs fine here on my xp mode,i have tried to play youtube on fullscreen,minimized it,all works fine. Might be your host avir/hips interfering with remote desktop?because xp mode using remote desktop.

Windows 7 64 bit XP mode,i won't run it on 64 since it 'less' secure than sandboxie 32 bit.

Interesting. I've checked everything I can, including turning off the protection, antivirus, etc. - no change.

What's odd, of course, is that Sandboxie itself funs fine (this is in Windows 7 Professional, within a Virtual XP window). It is ONLY this strange thing about going "full screen" (within the virtual window) that crashes Internet Explorer 8. Now without Sandboxie, I can flip to full screen under IE8, both in and not in the virtual window.

So what's the difference between your setup and mine? My guess is something to do (maybe) with the video drivers. [And I say that simply because I can't think of anything else.]
