Thanks for the link. I just briefly scanned through it, but I'll read it later.
I don't mind that they report an unknown or unproven file - I've seen the warning about that with past Sandboxie beta version downloads, because so few people have downloaded them at that point in time.

I do mind that they also deleted all contents of the downloaded file, making it a zero byte file.
This just started for me, with the 3.43.17 download.
So far I haven't found any setting in Norton that will allow me to decide what to do with the suspected file, under those circumstances.

[Edit]Hopefully, the Norton Community site that is linked to above, will get some results from Symantec.
Once again I had to move from Quarantine the latest Sandboxie beta download, just because Norton didn't recognize it.

[Edit2]On Friday 1/29 they finally fixed this problem with Norton A/V

Bug: Windows Live Messenger is crashing under the following circumstances with .18 (possibly with earlier versions as well, but I've not tested those) :
- msnmsgr.exe is Sandboxed
- Windows 7 32bit, LUA only (does not crash when running as admin)
- Chat window opened with an available contact. WLM crashes a few seconds after opening the chat window

I've confirmed this on my live system and a clean VM.

Scoobs, can I ask you to produce some information using a debugger, per the example here?

http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=7128

But please make sure to use version 3.43.19.

Thanks Scoobs. Looks like the crash is related to your webcam. I saw a similar debug log a few months ago. But unfortunately I was unable to reproduce the problem at the time. Perhaps you can configure WLM to ignore your webcam?

Well, your messenger still seems to be looking for one. At least that's what it looks like to me. I had another idea: Maybe you can use File Access > Block File Access settings to block access to *\avicap32.dll and *\MSVFW32.dll

That didn't work either. I've pm'd you some new debug. This is different to the previous debug and doesn't reference those DLLs. I seem to be getting different debug everytime.

Thanks, I see I forgot to remove a breakpoint instruction. But you can downgrade to an earlier 3.43 version for now, to test the Block File Access suggestion.

Also I can add that I tried sandboxed WLM on Windows 7 and could not reproduce any problem, or else I would try to fix it.

Did that include in LUA? The problem does not happen when running as admin.
