Favorite list not showing in IE7 when sandboxed.

I've posted this problem previously but had no replies for my plea for assistance.
The problem - If I run Internet Explorer 7 sandboxed my favorites list doesn't show, this happens with all versions from 2.80 up to 2.86. However, Internet Explorer 7 shows the favorite list correctly when not sandboxed.
I'm now running version 2.64 and the favourite list shows correctly when sandboxed.
As I had no replies to my pervious message it would seem that I may be the only one having the problem - it would be nice to know if anyone else can, or can't see the favourite list while sandboxing IE 7 using versions 2.80 upwards?

Under Configuration-----sandbox settings----set file copy options

Do you have "Allow IE full access to favorites folder" Checked?

I am a relatively new user to sandboxie, so I'm afraid I can't be of much help.

I bet Tzuk will be able to figure it out though. He has pretty much quickly resolved every issue I have had with the program.

Sorry if you feel you were being ignored earlier when you posted this. There were times with so many problem reports, it's just difficult for me to deal with everything. And sometimes other people don't care enough to say anything either. Sad

Can you make this a bit clearer. Do you mean that the favorites aren't there, or just their window isn't displayed correctly? If you invoke Oragnize Favorites from the menu, do you see them?

I wasn't being critical of you or the forum members, just bringing the problem back up for help.

To answer your questions: Clicking on Favorites in IE7 shows the following three items - "Add to favorites" "Add tab group to favorites" (greyed out) and "Organize favorites", the favorite list is not shown.

Clicking on "Add to favorites" brings up the add a favorite screen. In the "create in panel" clicking on the down arrow shows the favorites list, adding an item to the list works but the list is still not shown under "Favorites".

Clicking on "Organize favorites" brings up a blank screen. Clicking on new folder in the "Organize favorites" brings up an error message "An error has occurred in this dialog error:59 unspecified error.

Any help in rectifying the problem would be mush appreciated.

so let me get it straight whats happening, for this example im gonna use Opera, under Opera, when you click bookmarks, you see:

Bookmark Page
Manage Bookmarks
and then below Manage bookmarks you see all your bookmarks youve added, well lets say you were having this problem with Opera, then that would mean that you can see Bookmark Page, and Manage Bookmarks, but you dont see all of your bookmarks though that should be listed under Manage Bookmarks, am i right? well, the only thing i can think is that maybe if you set SBIE to open path to your favorites folder, than maybe they would shww up in your sandboxed IE7, just one warning though, your favorites would no longer be Sandboxed anymore, IE7 as well as everything else would be sandboxed, just not your favorites.

How about if you run a sandboxed command prompt and say:

Code:

dir "%USERPROFILE%"\Favorites

Do you see them listed?

Just to make sure I understand the procedure involved - I went to Sandboxie Control/Function/Run Sandboxed/Any Program/ then typed the command that you gave and got the message "could not invoke progam".

noooo, you were supposed to goto Sandboxie Control/Function/Run Sandboxed/Any Program/, then type cmd, THEN type in that command that tzuk gave you (or you could copy and paste it).

I have similar problem too, also can't see the favourites in a sandboxed IE session.

I'm running IE 6. But I have remapped the favourites directory to D drive. I suspect Sandboxie has problem with that.

Please see my other post about problems with remapped My Documents and Desktop.

Can you see them listed if you run an unsandboxed cmd and type this command?

If yes,

Try to move all your (unsandboxed) favorites to another folder, so the folder remains empty. Then start sandboxed IE. Do you see favorites now? You should probably get a few favorites that go to Microsoft.

Hello Tzuk,

To answer your questions:

If I run an unsandboxed command dir "%USERPROFILE%"\Favorites I can see them listed.

Moved all favorites from the Favorites folder and started a sandboxed IE favorites, the favorites are still NOT shown.

Starting an unsandboxed IE shows the favorites to be empty as one would expect.

I have no idea what could be causing this. How about a SandboxieTrace? Not sure it'll reveal anything, but I think we might as well try it.

It would be best if you enable the trace for only FileTrace=ad, then start a sandboxed command prompt and do that "dir" command. This way you could post just the last 20-30 trace lines, they should represent the "dir" command and we could see what's going on.
