Perhaps some conflict with another security software. You should post a Resource Monitor Log. Here are instructions for doing this:

This can also happen if you blocked access to My Documents (a.k.a. %Personal%).
What happens if you try this in a new sandbox with default settings? |

HI

Thanks for reply.
After I remove "%Personal%" under Blocked Access, Run Windows Explorer sandboxed successfully. However, can I still run Windows Explorer sandboxed successfully, if I use "%Personal%" or other similar or same function??? Any substitute for "%Personal%"??? |

In the past, I always suggested making an exception for Explorer: ClosedFilePath=!explorer.exe,%Personal% But now that you've asked again, I may have found a better workaround: ClosedFilePath=%Personal%\?* Blocking access to %Personal% completely blocks that folder, while blocking %Personal%\?* allows programs to list the contents of %Personal% but not open any of its files or subfolders. The second setting alone should be enough, but if you want, you can use both settings together so that only Explorer can list the files. @tzuk: Thanks for implementing the '?' wildcard that now makes this possible. |

Good find Mike. Perhaps I can make a built-in special case for this, and if Personal or Personal\* are blocked in Explorer.exe, then Sandboxie automatically changes that to Personal\?* as you suggest.

Although I think we would both agree that it's best to minimize built-in special cases, that does seem justified here - otherwise, users will be confused when Explorer doesn't work.

A basic tip for those new to Windows 7: it may be a good idea to double-check that %Personal% actually points to the location where your private files are stored.
Sandboxie gets the value of %Personal% from the registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders. But, depending on your setup, this may not cover all your "My Documents" locations, e.g.:
2. C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Documents (also via junction: C:\Users\Username\Local Settings\Documents) 3. C:\Users\Public\Documents |

In version 3.55.07, the Windows 7 Explorer can start even if access to the documents folder has been blocked through some ClosedFilePath setting in Sandboxie.
