You could try using Sandboxie's Resource Access Monitor. Maybe something will show up in the report.
Activate the monitor before you start Firefox, and copy the report contents into a message here after the client software fails to start. |

Hi,
Thanks for your reponses. The VPN I use is OpenVPN. My firewall is Kaspersky Pure which allows a sandbox too. Are there some ports to open for Sandboxie soft in the firewall? If I use a non VPN connection, no problem to use sandboxie. My problem appears when I use the OpenVPN connection. Here is the report after firefox failed to launch: snipped. --tzuk When I try to force the program, the main page the webbrowser is opening but it's impossible to navigate on the web. I paste too the report created after I force the program firefox: snipped. --tzuk What about the compatibility between Sandboxie and an OpenVPN connection? Thanks in advance, Best regards. |

Try to open Sandbox Settings > Resource Access > IPC Access > Direct Access. Click add and paste:
*\BaseNamedObjects*\PowerProfileRegistrySemaphore If that doesn't work, then please give me a link to the download VPN software. I saw you mention that it needs an account, but I am hoping that the software can be installed and cause the problem even without an account. |

Hi,
Thanks for your answer. I paste the *\BaseNamedObjects*\PowerProfileRegistrySemaphore but impossible to launch Firefox or any other program sandboxed with my VPN. Here is the report: snipped. --tzuk I can't give you a link to download the client software because you need my profil to have access to download, but I can send it to you by email if you permit. How can I do to contact you? Bets regards. |

Thanks for sending me the program installer for VPNTunnel. I looked into it, and while I will have a fix for this, the problem is really in the other product.
Sandboxie hooks (i.e. takes over) the TCP/IP "connect" requests to block TCP/IP ports per the BlockPort setting: http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?BlockPort The ConnGuard.dll from the VPNTunnel product does the same thing, but because Sandboxie already placed a hook there, ConnGuard gets confused and crashes. The workaround I am doing is if Sandboxie detects VPNTunnel then it will cancel the support for the BlockPort setting. Obviously this isn't optimal but there is no other way to fix this because the real problem is that VPNTunnel is not hookinng its stuff properly. I will try to release version 3.57.02 soon, perhaps tomorrow, so that you can test this fix quickly. * * * Oh and I can also say now that the PowerProfileRegistrySemaphore resource we discussed above has nothing to do with this and you can remove it from your settings. |

Thank you very much for your help.
I already removed the PowerProfileRegistrySemaphore resource. Indeed, it would be very good if you could fix the problem in your new version! Today, I installed an older version for VPN connection which works fine with Sandboxie. I'll send to you the installer by email. Perhaps, it could help you to see the difference. There's no ConnectionGuard. At this time, I use this old version, but I do prefer to use the Client software VPNTunnel, because it's more secured and offers several country location for the server. Thanks in advance for your time, Best regards. |

Please don't send the old version. As I said there is nothing I can do or learn here that will help me fix this problem. Many programs coexist with Sandboxie successfully and place their hooks on top of Sandboxie hooks. The failure here is with the VPN program which doesn't hook correctly in all cases. If you want a proper fix, you have to ask the VPN people to look into it.

The workaround should be in effect in version 3.57.02, when the VPN Tunnel software compatibility settings are enabled.

Hi,
thanks very much for your help. All programs and Firefox are now working fine with this new Sandboxie 3.57.02b and my VPN Client Software. After installing the 3.57.02b version, Sandboxie detected automatically the compatibility with VPNTunnel Client. No problems since I installed this version. The compatibility is OK. Many thanks! |
