Before I start looking into this, can you give an exact version number? I don't want to accidentally spend time testing the wrong version of avast. Thanks.

After seeing this post, I can also confirm this.
However I didn't look to see if it was doing it before the new update, well I'm sure I looked but don't remember at all. This is the first time I've had to reboot the PC after an Avast program update, so it was major, or maybe it was my first program update, can't say for sure. Here is my current version number for Avast Free edition: 6.0.1289 But you should probably also get confirmation from gazs1 or someone else also. Hope that helps. Love the program, just wish the exchange rate was way better, but I guess if I had money it wouldn't matter |

I'll post an update here once I've had a chance to look into this. I have a lot of stuff to look into so I have to ask for your patience with this.

I tried to look into this, but I don't understand how to tell if the Script Shield is working or not.
The avast control panel shows "scripts scanned/infected: 16/0". This number doesn't change no matter where I browse outside the sandbox. Nevertheless I noted that in Resource Access Monitor, two new resources for avast. Please go into Sandbox Settings, Resource Access, IPC Access, Direct Access and add: *\BaseNamedObjects*\asw.script_blocking.conf_data* This should cover both resources. Let me know if this makes any difference for Script Shield. If it doesn't, then I would need some instructions on what to do to test the script shield. |

Avast web shield worked fine on unsandboxed processes (shield traffic and all). Sandboxed processes were ignored.
After applying this rule, it didn't seem to work properly anymore, because no activity is reported on the shield traffic. |

I'm having a rather serious problem with Avast and Sandboxie. My resources run out in kernel memory. I can't start Process Explorer or list handles due to insufficient resources. At any one time I have hundreds of thousands of mutant handles cumulative among browsers all like this
\Sandbox\user\mybox\Session_1\Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\asw.script_blocking.conf_data_protect I will try what is suggested earlier in this thread to add a direct access. I'm using Sandboxie 3.58 32-bit on Vista SP2 x86 and Avast Internet Security 6.0.1289 ![]() |

Well I added that and then rebooted but I'm having the same problem. Every second several of those mutant handles are created. Right now I have only one web browser open, firefox, and those handles are created at the rate of about 1 per second even though I'm doing absolutely nothing. -Edit: Also if it matters it's still the same path even though I added direct access for *BaseNamedObjects\asw.script_blocking.conf_data* \Sandbox\user\mybox\Session_1\Sessions\1\BaseNamedObjects\asw.script_blocking.conf_data_protect |

Yup it appears to be working properly on my computer. I have a single mutant handle now for the browser. Thanks |
