I am unable to run Firefox 11.0 sandboxed in any version of Sandboxie later than 3.64, either through the sandboxed web browser link, or by right clicking on Firefox.exe and choosing run sandboxed. I've tried both the overwriting and uninstalling options during setup. I've also created a brand new, unmodified sandbox, but no luck. If I overwrite the newer version, including 3.68, with 3.64, Firefox runs normally. Any ideas on how to get Firefox to run in the newer versions of Sandboxie?
Thanks

What happens when you try to run it under Sandboxie? Do you get an error report, or some other error indicator?

No, there aren't any error messages. Firefox just doesn't run; it's like clicking on an invalid link to a program. But Firefox is my default browser, and right clicking on Firefox.exe and trying to run it sandboxed doesn't do anything either. But both methods of running Firefox sandboxed work properly in version 3.64.

I see. So the first step in figuring this out is I ask you to post your Resource Access Monitor log.
Simply open the monitor window before running Firefox, then run Firefox under Sandboxie, then post your log results in your reply here.
More information:

Thanks!

When I do this, no data appears in the Resource Access Monitor window, either when trying to run Firefox via the Sandboxed Web Browser link, or right clicking on Firefox.exe and choosing Run Sandboxed. This happens even in a newly-created sandbox. I know I'm using the Resource Access Monitor correctly, because when I re-installed version 3.64 and ran Firefox I did get data in the Resource Access Monitor window.

Alright, in this case, do you use any other security software besides Sandboxie?

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, Online Armor Free firewall, AnVir Task Manager, and WinPatrol. I also have Malwarbytes and SuperAntispyware installed, but they are strictly on demand scanners and do not monitor files. This has been my basic security setup for a long time, and it did not interfere with Sandboxie versions 3.64 and earlier.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks. I will try to install Microsoft Security Essentials, Online Armor Free firewall, AnVir Task Manager, and WinPatrol and see if I can reproduce the problem you describe. I'll try to post an update soon.

Just in case it's relevant in your attempts to reproduce the problem, I'm running Windows XP Professional on my computer.
Thanks again for your help.

Yes, thanks. I will be sure to test this on XP.

I'm sorry to report that I was unable to reproduce this problem even after installing:
Microsoft Security Essentials, Online Armor Free firewall, AnVir Task Manager free, and WinPatrol free.

After further experimentation, I discovered that the reason that Firefox would not run under the newer Sandboxie versions was due to a conflict with Online Armor Free firewall, specifically its HIPS feature. I disabled that feature, and now Sandboxie (3.69.03 beta) and Online Armor Free seem to be playing nice together.

How do I activate this HIPS feature in Online Armor?
