Why it takes so long for Sandboxie to start up...?

I'm using version 2.86. Every thing is fine and I'm pretty happy with it.
But I'd like that Sandboxie starts up faster. I have to wait a few minutes for sandboxie to start, (the antivirus and firewall have started up long before). I've been using SB for about a year now, but still - slow start up. This is the message that i get, before it fully starts: "SndDrv not available"
Can this issue be fixed? Or there is a special reason that makes the solution difficult !?
Until the next stable release ( and hopefully faster), is there any way (for ex..thru registry changing, priority change, or some other way) to start it up faster ? BTW I tested the latest version 2.93.10, but the same problem persists.

P.S.
Tzuk, even though your pizza pie takes a while to get ready it tastes delicious...
It simply needs a bigger fire... Laughing

" The Sandboxie driver (SbieDrv) is not available to sandbox programs.
Make sure both the driver and Sandboxie service (SbieSvc) have started successfully
."

Is there any workaround/solution on this matter ?.. Rolling Eyes [/img]

I see. I guess you could say I was nit-picking, but I really was surprised you said SndDrv and not SbieDrv.

I have some idea about how to fix it. If I change this in the next beta version, will you try it?

I'll be more than happy to test it out, and let you know about the results.

BTW when I posted an error that Kerio firewall was reporting related to SB in the forums, your reply to wait for the next stable release (2.8x) resolved the issue. Worth waiting!

OK. Try version 2.94.15.

I changed it so SbieSvc starts the driver by making a request directly to the Windows core,
rather than indirectly by making the request to the Service Control Manager.

Technical babble aside, I think this will speed things up. I only hope it doesn't mess other stuff. Smile

Test-drove 2.94.15 and by-passing (Idea) Service Control Manager did the trick.

Yes it starts faster; if I might give numbers I would say about 10% faster.. Very Happy

And the other good news is that the message "...SbieDrv not available..." is gone Very Happy Very Happy

Thx again Tzuk for the quick follow up. I'm sure that the next versions will be faster ones.

I'm pretty happy with it and so far hasn't been breaking things...

Keep up the good work ! Cheers

10%? I thought it would be more dramatic. I don't think I'll be able to improve it any more than that. But on the plus column, I'm glad to see the beta version is working well for you.

Even though 10% you've got to throw it on plus column of SB. Every little gain counts!

The missing intrusive warnings (" ...Sbie not available...") go on the plus side.

Also your efforts go as a big ++ on the positive column of SB.

If not much can be done regarding speeding the start-up, no biggie for me, I'd still happily chew your pizza.

If any problem comes up I'll keep you posted.

As a footnote: Love that automatic delete & recover feature.
