It sounds like you might need to Delete Contents of the sandbox that Firefox uses.
Open the Sandboxie Control tray icon's window and right-click on the sandbox name. Then click on "Delete Contents" OK Also, if you haven't already done it: Right-click the sandbox name again, and use - Sandbox Settings > Resource Access > File Access > Direct Access "Add Program" button: firefox.exe "Add" button: Navigate to the Firefox profile folder on the hard disk, and select the "adblockplus" sub-folder. OK your way out. This will allow AdblockPlus to save it's settings out of the sandbox. |

thanks for the ideas
I have deleted the contents of the sandbox. I have it set to do it when the browser is closed and I also did a manual delete. No change. It took me some searching but I found the adblockplus folder, two of them. I did as you suggested, added them to direct access. No change. |

Just as a test, what happens if you let Firefox have direct access to it's entire profile folder when sandboxed?
I just want to know if that make a difference, although I don't know what it might mean if it does make a difference. Sandbox Settings > Applications > Web Browser > Firefox The bottom setting. Also, I don't know why you would have 2 adblockplus folders. I don't use Vista, but I would have guessed that the profile folder is located at: C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default and the adblockplus sub-folder would be underneath that folder. You can always see the profile folder's location from Firefox: Help > Troubleshooting Information > Click the "Show Folder" button that's next to: 'Profile Folder' |

I tried your test and allowed access to the firefox profile with no change.
C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default - that's where I found the adblockplus. Under profiles there were 2 \xxxxxx,default folders, each containing an adblockplus. The one that firefox troubleshooting page linked to was the latest accessed one. Both I added to direct access. When I first used the firefox troubleshooting page, I was in sandboxie and 'show folder' didn't do anything. Outside sandbox it worked and the window appeared showing where the folder was. If that means anything. Nothing major but confusing. Thanks again for your help and suggestions |

Can you look in the folder: C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox and find the file called "profiles.ini". Open it in Notepad and copy the contents to the Clipboard, and then post it in a message here. As far as I know, when you run Firefox UN-sandboxed, and use the Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" the profile folder that you see is the only one that should be called xxxxxxxx.default. So if you have another one that also has ".default" at the end of the folder name, that is not usual. Or, did you create a second Firefox profile intentionally, and also call that second profile "default"? |

I haven't set up a second profile for firefox. And one of the folders has xxxx.default-123445677, not just default.
here is the profiles.ini [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 [Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/uar5p1m3.default [Profile1] Name=default-1339779018867 IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/p7vfp0a0.default-1339779018867 Default=1 |

I did some checking on the firefox troubleshooting site and worked through their steps to delete extra profiles. It seemed to work as I now have one profile and sandboxie uses adblockplus.
Guest10, thank you for your help and ideas, wouldn't have found the problem otherwise. |

Spoke too soon.
When I switched default profiles, deleted the others, my ff addons were out of date. Before updating, I used sandboxie and adblockplus worked. I updated all addons and extensions and now the problem has returned. oh well |

If so, then your profiles.ini probably shows as above, where "uar5p1m3.default" is the only one listed. Anyway, there should only be one profile listed, and one profile folder after you deleted one of them. Did you use the Firefox Profile Manager, or some other method to delete the extra profile? Which one is left? The one that ends with ".default"? Help > Troubleshooting Information when UN-sandboxed should show it. Or, just check with Windows Explorer to see which one is left under the "Profiles" folder. Another profile folder wasn't created, was it? Once you have only one profile, and the sandbox contents are deleted, then sandboxed Firefox should use the same profile. The other thing you can try is to create a new sandbox with only default settings. Sandboxie Control > Sandbox > Create New Sandbox Give it a name and then use the right-click menu on that sandbox name and use: Run Web Browser or, Run Sandboxed > Run Web Browser whichever one you see. You won't have the setting to save items to the "adblockplus" folder in this new sandbox, but you should still be able to see how things work If things seem OK in the new sandbox, then we should probably look at the settings that the other sandbox for Firefox uses. |

I used profile manager to delete the p7...... profile. I'm down to one using the troubleshooting information page -profiles. Also did a removal of adblock plus, went to the profile where adblock plus was still there, deleted it, deleted contents of SB, installed ab+, checked to make sure the folder was back in the profile, opened sb'd firefox and still the same problem. Tried a second sandbox and no change.
Next step is use an older version of ab+ since all this started after their latest update. Must be something with my system that the new version doesn't like. |

Strange. In a previous post I stated that it worked. I had deleted the extra profile, which was the one I had been using, and used the older profile. The adblock version then was 1.9something. Then I updated the adblock and it didn't work anymore. I've dropped down to ver 2.0.3, two updates back, and I'm working again. Seems adblock update and my system didn't mesh. Went to the adblock website forum and there are indications of problems with the update as it relates to firefox.
Anyhow, it's working again. Thanks for all the help |

Thank goodness, as they say.
I was thinking that I might have to come over to your place to see what was happening. Sometimes these things seem just plain impossible. |

I've seem to be having the same problem. All of my other extensions are working except adblock. I'm running windows 7 and do not know how to access my firefox profile folder.
