Sandboxie 3.72 was running fine, then I upgraded Chrome browser this evening to 21.0.1180.60.
All is still fine in XP, but my W7 64-bit PC won't run Chrome sandboxed anymore.
The browser opens, but won't open any bookmarks or manually typed urls, there are no wrench features. It's dead.
However, Chrome runs perfect if I open it outside Sandboxie.

I uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled. That didn't help.

Sandboxie is working fine with IE9 and other sandboxed apps, but not Chrome.
Chrome is working fine, but not with Sandboxie.

When I uninstalled Chrome I kept a backup copy of the bookmarks/extensions (User Data\Default) and used it to overwrite the new installation file.
I did likewise with Sandboxie, by saving the sandboxie.ini file.
I'm wondering if the problem might be with one or both of these saved files, and by overwriting the new install file, I am carrying some form of corruption forward?

For now I am forced to choose between IE9 w/SBIE or Chrome w/o SBIE (which has its own sandbox).
I like the AdBlock extension in Chrome (and the fact that it already has a sandbox), so I have opted for running Chrome without Sandboxie, until I get this straightened out.
But I don't feel real comfortable on the internet without Sandboxie!

Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated.

I can install Chrome 21.0.1180.60 in a sandbox (on 64-bit Windows 7) and it seems to work fine, so I don't think this is a general problem with version 21.0.1180.60 but perhaps something specific to your setup.

As a first step I suggest that you create a new sandbox (and leave it with default settings) and check see if that makes a difference.

I'll try that.
I am doing work on that PC right now, so it will be a few hours before I report back.
Thanks, tzuk.

I did as you recommended, to no avail. New sandbox, left everything default, didn't force Chrome, no restrictions, same result as before.

This is puzzling to me. It all worked fine until the Chrome update yesterday.

Can you guys please post your Resource Access Monitor logs when trying to run Chrome under Sandboxie?
I'd like to see if there is anything in common between your two logs that might point to the problem.

Scoobs72 posted a solution for me on Wilders, tzuk!

This wouldn't be another OA/Chrome/Sandboxie incompatibility issue would it? Emsi have never quite nailed the compatibility of running chrome under Sandboxie with OA installed. If you haven't already ruled it out, completely shut down OA, then try running Chrome under SBIE and see if it works. Smile

I shut down OA, and Chrome opened in Sandboxie just fine!

Edit in: Further following Scoobs72's advice, I have set the Chrome Application folder as an exclusion in OA, and once again I am able to run SBIE/Chrome/OA together.

Just want to add that I've had a similar problem

Yesterday Chrome wouldn't work. No pages would load, not even Chrome's own settings page. All I got was a light blue background. Unfortunately I didn't think to try to run Chrome un-sandboxed. I uninstalled it, and then re-installed and it worked.

Currently I'm using the latest 21.0.1180.60 m version within sandboxie and it seems to work

It should always be noted that Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox have made significant changes to their browsers and their compatibility with Sandboxie or any other software will have teething problems.Idea

Unless they stabilize which is unlikely in the near term, the struggle continues. Razz

Agree. It should always be noted.
Then, after the noting, it's a good idea to post in a forum to see if anyone has a solution.

Here is another SBIE/Chrome/OA user experiencing the same issue.
The thread also contains a link to an OA thread from back in March in which this issue is discussed.
Just wanted to append this info to this thread for reference.

Same problem again today.

I think my computer crashed or something. I got back to my laptop and it was back to the login screen, so pretty sure that windows crashed and rebooted. My laptop occassionally does that.

I'm certain that Chrome was open before the computer rebooted. Anyway, now whenever I use Chrome, I get the light blue background, while no pages load. Not even the Chrome Settings page. When I "Disable Forced Programs" and allow Chrome to run un-sandboxed, it works.

I am going to try to re-install again.
