BEFORE REPORTING A PROBLEM:

* Delete the contents of your sandbox and check if it makes a difference.

NO WAY! Its almost 15 gigs or more.

Why oh why did i decide to update this software. I've been using Sandboxie for almost a year now & never had any major problems until i updated the software two days ago (3.72). I use it to run another instance of Team Fortress 2 (steam) without any major problems but now when i launch the game i always get the error "hl2.exe has stopped working" from microsoft & i have to shut it down. I have always gotten this error from Sandboxie "SBIE1304 Blocked simulated keyboard or mouse input by process 'hl2.exe [Steam2] " but as stated this error has always appeared & has never given me any problems. Thoughts?

You should be able to easily downgrade back to the version that was working fine for you.

Old installers here -

It should be ok to run the installer in "upgrade" mode, even when you're really downgrading.

I remembered it was 3.4 so i reinstalled & it worked a treat abet with a few error messages that i'll look into later (Blocked simulated ports + ActiveX- i think?). For now it works Smile Thanks a million tzuk & Max. I finally don't have that Blocked simulated keyboard error message.
On a side note though, in order to run another copy of TF2 I had to copy the Steam folder to my desktop (location irrelevant). Keeping that in mind, if i were to buy a subscription to sandboxie, would you think i would have to create more copies (6) of Steam to take advantage of the multiple instances i can run TF2?. Also, how many windows can i run with the subscription. I can't seem to find that info Embarassed

You can get rid of the message about simulated input by going to Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Hardware Access and checking the first checkbox on that page.

As for running multiple instances of TF2 under Sandboxie, I don't have any first hand experience with that so I can't help, I'm sorry.

Yes thanks tzuk the simulated input errors have ceased but now i am getting a lot of 1411 errors & upon reading, "Sandboxie encountered an error while processing the Sandboxie.ini file. One of the sandboxes configured in the file references a global template section which does not appear in the global configuration file Templates.ini", i'm afraid i still don't know what to do. Its running TF2 without any problems so i'm not really concerned if you want to skip my question & deal with more pending issues.

If anyone runs multiple copies of steam i'd appreciate a response to my question though Wink

If you have a reference to a template that is no longer in templates.ini, it appears that you need to remove it from the configuration file by using:
Configure > Edit Configuration

Look under the [GlobalSettings] section, for the line that lists the name of the template:
Template=(name of template)

Delete that line, and any blank line that is left behind
File > Save > Exit

I tested Team Fortress 2 with Sandboxie 3.81.04. Installed Steam sandboxed, installed Team Fortress 2 in Steam. Game downloads and installs fine and I was able to play a practice game against bots. I also tried some of the textmode parameters suggested here, also works. No crashes.

Those of you who reported that the hl2.exe program is crashing, can you try version 3.81.04 to see if it makes a difference? Thanks.

Hi tzuk,

I just tested to run TF2 with 3.72 and 3.81.08 (64) - both without luck.

I reverted back to 3.58 and it's working fine again.
Team Fortress 2 won´t start in textmode
