Pablo/Tzuk, as I just got a U3 USB stick I would love to use a portable version of Sandboxie. However, I've thrown myself in this lengthy post and it is still not very clear to me how to get this to work. Would it be possible to have a short description of the steps to be taken to get Sandboxie to work on the USB and make that a stickie in this forum, if possible with both the script and a combined package as a download? That would be great |

And he did. Thanks Pablo! I've put it up here: http://www.sandboxie.com/PortableSandboxie.zip I haven't had the time to look into it yet, but Pablo said he based it on version 2.92. |

Thanks for the portable zip Pablo and thanks Tzuk for posting it.
I briefly looked at the script file and find this reg entry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\tzuk\Sandboxie I was under the impression that this key created only for v2.64 or less. Tzuk, is this key also created upon an install of v2.8x or 2.9x Thanks, soccerfan |

Two comments/queries to add to my previous post above.
1. Pablo's script shows this entry RegWrite('HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Eventlog\System\SbieSvc','EventMessageFile',"REG_EXPAND_SZ",'\??\" & @ScriptDir & "\SbieMsg.dll') Question: Is the \??\ needed in the above entry? With it included, the reg value shows up as \??\C:\program files\etc instead of C:\program files\etc (assuming @scriptdir is C:\program files\etc) 2. I presume the LoadAppInit_DLLs and AppInit_DLLs entries are no needed in v2.9x? soccerfan |

Thanks very much Pablo for creating a portable version and Tzuk for posting it. According to the info the package is indeed based on version 2.92.06 and I'm sorry to start immediately with questions but I put the package on my U3 USB stick and tried to start it but got the following error message: "Missing program name to invoke" |

AFAIK, you cant embed entries into the windows context menu using autoit code, you can embed entries into the context menu of an autoit created gui , but not the standard windows context menu, what you could do though is maybe use visual studio or borland delphi? |

tzuk, I don't know if you tried to fix it but sandboxie still doesn't use the ini file in it's local directory properly.
I have used pablo's portable version (thank you very much pablo!!) and it seems to read the local directory sandboxie.ini but if you then go to edit on the sandboxie control menu then it doesn't open up anything. Pablo, your autoit script makes two entries in the registry in 'HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\services'. 'Sandbox' and 'SandboxU' are the 2 keys. Are these intentionally left or is it ok to delete these on exit? Cheers Rochey |

I got same message as eternalbeta when I press on "Start.exe"
There is a "XSanboxie.exe" too and some other "*.exe" Files. Which one should i use to start the program in portable mode? Does the program need to install the driver too? I got a message when I install the normal program. Or is the driver included in the portable edition. Thanks for this great program. |

First I start this portable edition from a folder on the Desktop. Then I close the program and copy it to a dircetory on my harddisk called D:/Ablage/Sandboxie
When I run the program from this folder a new folder is created on the desktop where the program was before. In this folder is the "DefaultBox" Folder where all files are left. I can't find the ini file in D:/Ablage/Sandboxie and it seems that the program think some files are in the old folder. For example SbieDll.dll when I click on "Explore Contents (Sandboxed)" |

It was because there was a folder in "C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\Name\Anwendungsdaten" or what ever it is called in the english version.
Now it works. But "Start.exe" still doesn't work Can you explain what the different exe files mean? Or can you post a description of the portable version? I hope this portable programm is developed further on. Do you need beta tester? I hope we can test a new Verison as soon as possible. It's a great program. And that it become portable is the best idea from you. |
