I too am running McAfee. In my case, it is McAfee Enterprise 8.7 with ePolicy Orchestrator 3.6 and McAfee Rogue System Sensor.

If Scoobs is running the same version of McAfee, it would make me think that there might be a link there.

Otherwise....I am not sure what to try next...any ideas are appreciated

So now one of you has to volunteer to uninstall McAfee to see if this makes any difference.

I have the same problem here, and also SP3 and McAfee....

Seem we are reaching the point Smile

I cannot uninstall McAfee since this is my work PC, and is controlled by the IT guys, thats the main reason for using Sandbox in the first place Smile

Is there any software out there to kill this zombie processes? TaskManager seems not able to.

Regards,
Zymmer

I uninstalled McAfee and the zombies stopped appearing. I reinstalled McAfee and as soon as it was reinstalled, the zombies started showing up again. Any ideas?

I suspect it's a problem in McAfee. I've seen two other cases of this and in both it was a problem in the other software. Has anyone tried to report this to McAfee?

Move this to list of open problems

This issue continues to happen for me. My system has McAfee too, but there is no reason to believe yet that the problem is due to McAfee. This problem should be moved to the list of open problems till it is fixed.

On the contrary, I think there is good reason to think that the problem is McAfee. I remember a few months ago, when simply having Avira AntiVir installed (even with the real-time guard not installed/disabled) led to a conflict in Sandboxie's protection capabilities. I uninstalled Avira and the problem was fixed. Tzuk actually later fixed this conflict, but I suspect not all conflicts will be able to be fixed on Sandboxie's side.

Anyway, I am considering making a switch to Hitman Pro (since I only scan newly introduced files on-demand), which is an excellent "in-the-cloud" scanner, and will not potentially cause these types of conflicts.

Hey SSj100!!

I have moved to Hitman pro 3.5.4 Build 84 as my primary on demand,
and uninstalled A-Squared free.
(I got tired of long update/opening times)

If you are concerned with such things,Hitman has a process that starts with Windows, eailiy deactivated
in MSCONFIG.

Other than that,I like my new set up a lot.

The kind of new, shell context right click option fits my needs perfectly.

There was actually enough anecdotal evidence that McAfee is in fact the cause of the conflict:

I even added it now to the list of Known Conflicts:

Zombie Process?

Version 3.46 (32 bit)
WinXP SP3

When I try to run anything in sandboxie it will create a zombie process of the same thing.

ie: firefox.exe

when I sandboxie firefox.exe via right click -> run sandboxed

bring up task manager and you'll see two firefox.exe's. one of them with only 56 K memory used (this one is the zombie that never gets kill).

what can i do to fix this?

I'm sure Tzuk will want to know what other security type software you are using as well.
