Sandboxie 3.43.04 has some changes to the "Run as UAC Administrator" feature:
- Sandboxie Control is no longer involved in the elevation sequence, so it does not have to be running for UAC elevation to be available in the sandbox
- The Sandboxie Service (SbieSvc.exe) now handles elevation. Since the UAC pop-up sees just the Sandboxie Start.exe program, there is an additional information window that appears prior to elevation, and details which sandboxed program has asked for elevated privileges.
- Standard user account program a.exe elevating to administrator for program b.exe will no longer run program b.exe in the administrator's sandbox. This was never the intended behavior, and now it is fixed. Now, program b.exe will run in the sandbox of the standard user.
- If UAC elevation is possible, right-click Run Sandboxed on a program or a shortcut will display the sandbox selection dialog, even if there is only one sandbox, because this dialog includes a checkbox for "Run as UAC Administrator". (Where UAC is not available, the old behavior still applies: The sandbox selection dialog will not be displayed if there is just one sandbox.)
- The "Run As UAC Administrator" command has been removed from Sandboxie Control menus. The Start_RunAsAdmin setting in Sandboxie.ini (which was controlled by the menu command) is deprecated, and will no longer be considered.
