Which icon is it? The Sandboxed Web Browser icon from Sandboxie? Or the Opera icon?

I see. I don't really have any immediate ideas what might be wrong. For now, try the beta version 3.43.06, it fixes several problems over version 3.42, might fix yours as well:

Dear TZuk:
Thank you for your interest, your advice, and Sandboxie, which I have found to be an outstanding program in my use for a long time! I guess the more features that are added, combined with the different setups, programs and configurations everyone has, things get complicated and, as with any good program, these issues can be expected from time to time. Anyway, have a wonderful holiday and new year. Warmly, Stu |

| 3.43.06 Beta Helped, But... |

Dear TZuk:
I've tried the 3.43.06 beta tonight, and so-far, it totally solves this issue. Now, I can click the Opera icon only once and it starts as it is supposed to. However, there is one other issue i've had with the last version, and even with this new beta, (forgot to bring it out earlier): When I end all my programs, there are still files left behind in the sandbox, which I have to delete manually. This despite me having the setting checked to "automatically deleta contents of sandbox" and having Opera listed under "lingering programs". I hope you have a solution for this as well Warmly, Stu |

Glad to hear the first problem is resolved.
What does manually mean here? Manually invoke the Delete Sandbox command or manually delete the files in Windows Explorer? |

Manually invoke Sandboxie by clicking on the icon and having the icon come to my taskbar. Even after the last program exits and the red spots disappear inside the yellow icon, when I right-click the taskbar icon of Sandboxie-->default box-->delete contents, I get a message like, "there are 20 files and 1 folder in the sandbox, occupying 667kb", with an option to delete. How come these files are not automatically deleted? Warmly, Stu |

Well if you don't have the icon in your taskbar, then there is nothing to initiate the automatic deletion of the sandbox. Or in other words: You need Sandboxie Control running (if only in your taskbar) for automatic delete sandbox to work.

I've been wondering why I haven't seen the Sandboxie taskbar icon in a log time concerning it being there automatically. Well, in going to "msconfig", I see it says there is "sandboxie service" listed as "running" under services, and nothing of the program under programs start-up. Also, I saw no checkbox-type option in the program to enable the icon to automatically appear on startup. I guess you will know what i'll need to do. Warmly, Stu |

Sandboxie Service is not Sandboxie Control. If you don't have Sandboxie Control running it might be because you used the Configure menu > Windows Shell Integration window to say you don't want Sandboxie Control starting when you log on. So go back to that window and change the setting.

Dear TZur:
Thanks a lot for this info! I should have sought out this info from the help website. It looks veryt straight-forward. BTW: I notice that sometimes I still have to click on the Sandboxed Opera icon more than once, but not always now. Still, even if this can't be helped, it's a minor issue. Have a Blessed New Year, Stu |

| New Report Here On This Beta 3.43: |
|
Bruce
|
Dear TZuq:
It's been a few days i've been running Opera in the 3.4306 beta. At the very beginning after I upgraded to this version, it seemed that that ended my problem with having to click on the Sandboxed-Opera icon anywhere from 2-4 times before it started. However, over time I see that the same problem I had before with the 3.42 is getting worse again with having to click on the icon a few times. I also see with Sandboxie icon in my taskbar that when I first clock on the desktop icon, the red dots go into the taskbar Sandbixie icon, so I know Opera got in there. However, when a click fails, I see that those red dots leave the taskbar icon, so something is obviously wrong. Now since till now there is no explanation, let me ask this: If I go back to say, the 3.40 or even below that, is it possible that THE BASIC SANDBOX would possibly not be as secure as the current version? I know that new features are often added to increase security, but now I am only asking this about THE BASIC SANDBOX. Thanks and Blessed new year, Stu |

Dear TZuk:
I think I finally found the solution to this problem, which was getting worse. It seems that all I had to do was to stop using the default sandbox. When I made a new sandbox, (even with keeping the settings exactly the same), so-far this solves the problem and Opera and Internet Explorer (which I also had the same problem with), now open fine and at once! While I don't know the reason for this, this seems to be the solution. And if the default sandbox got corrupt, I don't know why when I reinstalled the program and even upgraded to the beta from the 3.42, that didn't help. but so-far now, so good. TZuk, I hope what I am telling you here may give you a clue as to the exact problem and why this solution seems to be working. Thanks again for this invaluable and wonderful program! Warmly, Bruce |

I see. I usually suggest creating a new sandbox as part of troubleshooting process, I don't know why I didn't think to suggest it here. Thanks for coming back to post this update.
