Hello,
1.) The program Qtracker doesn't work correctly when it's sandboxed. The "Ping" option doesn't work. When you click it nothing happens: Download Qtracker: http://www.qtracker.com/download.php?file_id=188,280 2.) Several games aren't working sandboxed, for example Counter-Strike Source. I added its executable (hl2.exe) to the forced programmes list and started it normally via Steam. Then this error occurs: Another example: Left 4 Dead 2 no Steam: 3.) Sandboxed programmes can mess up the network connection (Works on both Seven x32 and x64 but not XP). Install cFosSpeed on the real system. Then simply start the installer in the sandbox: Download cFosSpeed: http://www.cfos.de/download/download_e.htm To other forum users: Please no pointless comments about the L4D2 no Steam version. This is not the issue here. Thanks. Edit: Of course the drop my rights option was disabled. |

A firmware flasher for my DVD burner can change the firmware of it although it is sandboxed:
http://rapidshare.de/files/48999927/NECND352_v307.7z.html Is this by design? Of course it doesn't work with drop my rights. |

Imho this issues need to be cross-tested against x32 version, issue 1 is likely to go away there but issues 2,3 might very well still be there... And it's no big news not everything works sandboxed.

@ Julian, are you sure you have ran the flash prog. sandboxed always? or have you ran it outside before? I think this is pretty serious as it implies low level access was successfully attempted.

The flasher doesn't change anything of Windows. It accesses the burner firmware via direct disk / sector access and doesn't install a driver to achieve this. BIOS flashers for mainboards are blocked by Sandboxie because they install drivers. In my opinion Sandboxie should block the firmware flasher because no program should be able to alter the system when it's sandboxed. And here the system even gets altered at a low level. |

I probably can't reproduce this specific thing, because it involves specific DVD hardware. But I will try to access hard disk devices directly, killdisk-style, and see if Sandboxie blocks this access or not.

Regarding problem #1. Although I haven't tried Qtracker specifically, I did incidentally just fix ping functionality in Vista/Win7, per another problem report:
http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=7066 So you can try version 3.43.16 and see if it at least this problem is fixed. I haven't look at the other problems yet. |

The situation has changed but not for the better: Now Qtracker crashes when using the ping option. |
