Let's try to stay focused on the issue at hand.

Can you maybe use this?

http://web.sldrm.video.msn.com/d1/sldrm.html

I tested it outside of Sandboxie, first drop down menu selection (video and audio), selected streaming, made sure DRM was selected, clicked on load media. It works fine outside of Sandboxie, but just gets stuck on Media State: Opening inside Sandboxie.

That web site doesn't open for me. Blank page, no response at all. Maybe restricted by geo-location?

I had some trouble getting it to open, but I got it after a while.

I think I waited about a minute before giving up. Not long enough? Shocked

How about this one? It will play for me outside sandboxie, but not inside:

There's this one as well; works normally outside Sandboxie, but inside it gets stuck on Player Status: Opening:

http://www.silverlightdrm.com/player/index.html?placeValuesBeforeTB_=savedValues&TB_iframe=true&height=389&width=617

We might eventually find one you can use :p

Thanks. The last one works for me, but only on Windows 7. ??? Anyway, on my system the error seems to be related to the audio device. Try this please:

Go to your Templates.ini file in the Sandboxie program files folder, there is a section titled [Template_PlugPlayService] near the end of the file.

[Template_PlugPlayService]
Tmpl.Title=#3938
Tmpl.Class=Misc
OpenIpcPath=\RPC Control\plugplay

Add:

OpenIpcPath=\RPC Control\ntsvcs

To make:

[Template_PlugPlayService]
Tmpl.Title=#3938
Tmpl.Class=Misc
OpenIpcPath=\RPC Control\plugplay
OpenIpcPath=\RPC Control\ntsvcs

Then reload configuration in Sandboxie Control, and enable the second checkbox in Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Hardware Access.

Go to Sandbox Settings > Resource Access > IPC Access > Direct Access and make sure you see the two resources plugplay and ntsvcs listed within brackets.

Then visit the silverlightdrm.com page again and tell me if it works better.

Those changes let me play Netflix Instant Watch in Chrome using Microsoft Silverlight Version: 4.0.50524.0.

It also allows the previous two links to work as well. I just noticed with the ezdrm one.. you have to put Player.html in the address bar and it redirects to Player2.html, otherwise it won't work.

This appears to have fixed my issue on Vista 64-bit.. I will go try it on XP Pro 32-bit now...

It is also working on XP Pro 32-bit.

This looks like the fix... strange that it's audio...

Any potential side effects to this fix?

Make sure you bookmark that drm player that worked for you :p

You need not worry about side effects of this setting because it isn't going to be the long term solution. I just wanted to know that I'm on the right track with this audio thing -- and it looks that way. Thanks for the quick confirmation.

I think it's not so strange that it turned out to be an audio thing. Just those cryptically vague error messages from Silverlight and Netflix give the impression that it must be something really serious. And then it ends up being this minor issue with enumerating audio hardware on the computer. Oh well.

Yes, please test my long term solution. I'm not ready to release a full version yet, so here is just an updated SbieDll.dll.

http://www.sandboxie.com/SbieDll.dll

This DLL goes with version 3.45.17, and you will need to stop Sandboxie Control and the Sandboxie Service before you can drop this new DLL into C:\Program Files\Sandboxie.

Please let me know.
